Annual Conference of The Ghana Association of Agricultural Economists (GAAE)

2-4 October 2024

Tamale, Ghana

The 7th Annual Conference of the Ghana Association of Agricultural Economists (GAAE) will be held at the University for Development Studies in Tamale, Ghana from Wednesday 2 October to Friday 4 October 2024.

The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Regenerative and Precision Agriculture for Inclusive Value Chain Development in Africa’. Sub-Saharan Africa is currently experiencing an increasing demand for land for housing and agriculture due to upsurge in population, resulting in a reduction in forest cover. If not addressed, the current trend may worsen the resilience of African food systems and impede progress towards the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1, 2, 12, and 13.

In view of this challenge, there is a need for an agrifood system that sustainably manages the use of land, ecosystems and information communication technology tools for optimal inclusive value chain development. This calls for the need for researchers and practicing agriculture value chain actors to delve deeper into how regenerative and precision agriculture can be leveraged to improve agrifood value chain development in Africa.

The overarching objective of the conference is to bring together agricultural value chain actors to exchange state-of-the-art research findings and developments in regenerative and precision agriculture for inclusive data-driven value chain development in Africa.
