Women at the Heart of Agroecological Transitions: Lessons from Central Gonja District, Ghana

Across Africa, women remain at the centre of agriculture. They till the land, preserve seed systems, and safeguard food security, yet their voices are often marginalised in decision-making. In the Central Gonja District in Ghana, the CIRAWA Project has begun to shift this imbalance. On 22 July 2025, women farmers in Kusawgu gathered for a participatory forum that placed their leadership at the centre of the transition toward agroecology.

Ghana Farmers Take Part in Training on Agroforestry Techniques

Field technicians and farmers from Ghana took part in a 4-day long training course on Agroforestry techniques and practices that started on 7 May 2024. The training took place as part of the CIRAWA Project – Agroecological Strategies for Resilient Agriculture in West Africa and followed two other events in Ghana: Waste to Wealth on 18 April and Grow Green on 19 April.
